Description

phpBB Sego Editor is a phpBB Sego distribution based on BASE, enhanced with an extended visual editor for more convenient creation and editing of forum content.

Editor includes the core interface, layout and functionality of phpBB Sego BASE, so these components are not listed again on this page. A detailed description of the base system and its included components is available on the phpBB Sego BASE page.

The main difference in Editor is its extended message editing functionality. The distribution is intended for forums where users regularly work with formatted text, images, attachments, links and multimedia content.

Extended message editor

phpBB Sego Editor uses a modified and adapted version of the SCEditor visual editor.

The editor is integrated with the phpBB Sego interface and allows users to work with message content in a familiar visual mode while maintaining compatibility with the phpBB BBCode system.

Particular attention has been given to everyday editing tasks — inserting and formatting text, working with links, images and other content without having to edit BBCode manually.

Images and attachments

Editor simplifies adding images to posts and working with attached files.

Images and attachments are integrated into message content and their presentation is adapted to the phpBB Sego interface on both desktop and mobile devices.

This makes it easier to create posts containing illustrations and files without requiring additional manual formatting.

Pasting content

The editor is adapted for more convenient insertion of content from the clipboard.

When text, links and supported multimedia content are pasted, Editor attempts to preserve a structure suitable for further editing and to convert supported elements into the format used by the forum.

This is particularly useful when preparing larger posts or transferring material from other sources.

Video and multimedia

phpBB Sego Editor extends the handling of multimedia links.

Supported video links can be processed directly by the editor and converted into a suitable forum format without requiring users to manually create BBCode.

The editor supports popular video services, including YouTube and Rutube.

Additional BBCode

Editor includes additional BBCode used by phpBB Sego.

These include elements for displaying hidden content and content outside the main topic of discussion, including spoiler and offtopic.

They are integrated with the editor and can be used together with the standard phpBB formatting tools.

Mobile devices

The editor is adapted for use on both desktop and mobile devices.

The interface and primary editing operations are designed to work with touchscreens while retaining the formatting and content management capabilities of the editor.

 

Editor also includes Sego Modern — a modern phpBB Sego theme available in both light and dark variants. It provides a more contemporary layout for forums, topics and posts as an alternative to the classic BASE design.

 

What is included from BASE

phpBB Sego Editor is built directly on phpBB Sego BASE and includes its core functionality.

This means that Editor includes the Sego interface, base layout, Main Menu, sidebar, user cards, navigation improvements and the other components provided by BASE.

These components are intentionally not described again here in detail, keeping the differences between the distributions clear: Editor = BASE + extended editor and related functionality.

What is not included in Editor

Editor is not intended to be the complete phpBB Sego distribution.

The gallery and its related components are not included. Artificial intelligence features are also not part of Editor.

This allows the distribution to provide advanced message editing capabilities without adding specialized components that may not be required by every forum.

Installation

phpBB Sego Editor follows the same installation principle as BASE.

The distribution can be installed on a clean server and an empty database using the standard phpBB /install procedure. Importing a prepared database or manually executing SQL commands is not required.

The components and configuration required by Editor are created during the standard installation process.

Who is Editor for?

Editor is intended for forums where posts are an important part of the published content and the standard phpBB editing capabilities are not sufficient.

It is suitable for communities that regularly publish longer texts, instructions, images, attachments and multimedia, as well as for administrators who want a more convenient editor without installing heavier specialized components.
